Why Contito
Own your content.
Ship it from where you write.
Every other website tool makes you move your writing into it, then maintain the result forever. Contito connects the tools you already use, Google Docs and GitHub, and keeps a real website in sync with them. You keep writing, and the site catches up on its own.
01/Purpose
What we believe.
We built Contito around three convictions. Each one shaped how the product works for you.
Your content shouldn’t live inside a website tool.
Once it does, the tool decides what happens to it, and moving or reusing that work turns into a migration project.
Keep writing in Google Docs and GitHub and let the website be a view of it. Every word stays yours.
You shouldn’t need to become a webmaster to publish.
Most tools trade the blank page for a second job of plugins, hosting, themes and updates. That job never ends, and it was never the work you wanted to do.
Contito runs the hosting, SSL, search, SEO and upgrades, so your time goes into the writing.
Adopting AI shouldn’t mean rebuilding.
More of your content will be written with agents over the next few years. A tool designed only for clicking around a dashboard turns into dead weight the day you automate.
Publish by hand today and give the same site to an agent later through the API. Nothing gets rebuilt when you make the switch.
02/Under the hood
How “connect and forget” actually works.
You connect a source once. Everything after that runs without you.
Connect a source
Point Contito at a Google Doc, a Drive folder, or a GitHub repo.
It mirrors your structure
Folders become collections, docs become posts. Your hierarchy, intact.
Renders through a theme
A professionally designed theme, tuned to your brand.
Hosted & searchable
Served from the edge with search, SEO and AI-readable content built in.
Re-syncs on a schedule
Edit or add content in the source and the live site picks them up on the next sync, hourly on Pro and Ultimate.
03/Own your content
No lock-in, by design.
Most platforms are easy to join and painful to leave. Contito was designed so that leaving costs you nothing.
Your words stay in the Google Docs and GitHub repos you already control. Contito only reads from them, so it never becomes the only copy, and there is no proprietary database sitting in the middle.
If you cancel tomorrow, your content is exactly where it was the day you signed up. There is nothing to export because it never left.
04/One engine, two ways to play
Built for people and agents.
The same publishing engine is driven by you writing, an agent publishing, or both, so automating later never means starting over.
You, writing
Connect a source and keep writing. The website pulls in your changes on a schedule, and you can press Sync whenever you want them live sooner.
Your agents, publishing
The same site is reachable over a REST API and MCP, so Claude Code or any other agent can create a site and publish to it.
05/The ten-minute website
AI can build a site. Someone still has to run it.
Ask Claude or ChatGPT for a docs site and you’ll have one before lunch. What matters is who changes it in March.
The site arrives finished, generated once from a prompt by a model that won’t remember any of it tomorrow. Fixing a typo means going back to the model and shipping the whole thing again, and the design drifts a little each round because your words and your layout live in the same files.
The hosting account, the domain and the certificate also need someone keeping them alive. That job falls to your developer, who was hired to build the product.
What you end up with is a codebase and a hosting bill. Contito gives you a website you can change on a Tuesday afternoon without opening a terminal or waiting on a developer.
One honest exception. If your site is five pages that never change, the ten-minute ChatGPT-generated version is fine. We’d rather you use that instead of selling you a subscription you don’t need.
06/Side by side

07/Who it's for
What people build with it.
Three of the most common jobs, each with its own guide.
08/Questions and answers
Common questions before you sign up.
If AI answers everything, why publish at all?
An AI can only describe your product from what you published. Every Contito site ships meta tags, structured data and sitemaps, plus a clean markdown version of every page and an llms.txt index, so search engines and AI assistants read your actual words instead of guessing.
Can I customize enough?
Start from a designed theme, then tune colors, fonts, layout and brand. Themes are purpose-built for blogs, docs and help centers. Each comes with its own set of customizable sections.
What if I outgrow it?
Because your content lives in Google Docs and GitHub, there’s nothing to migrate. Move up a plan, add sources and domains, or hand the publishing to an agent. Your content and your site carry over untouched.
