Frequently Asked Questions
Contents & Website
What can I use Contito for?
Contito helps you create fully functional content website from your Google Docs without any coding or design skills. It's great for creating blogs, knowledge base and documentation sites.
All you have to do is write your articles in Google Docs, import the contents to Contito, select a theme for your website and customize it to your liking. When you're ready to publish, upgrade to a paid plan, pick a subdomain or domain name and hit publish.
What is a content?
A content is a single Google Doc document that you import into Contito. The contents are then inserted into different layouts to become a website.
What is the content limit?
On the Free and Starter plans, there is a 30 content limit. This means that you can only import a maximum amount of 30 Google Doc documents. If you'd like to add new contents, you'd need to remove the old ones first, or upgrade to the Pro plan that allows unlimited contents.
What contents can I import?
You can import individual Google Doc document or a Google Drive folder consisting of many documents.
What is a website?
A website is a collection of contents that you import from Google Docs. You can group the contents into categories called "Collections". Each website has its own design, layouts, components and domain and/or subdomain name.
What is an unpublished website?
When you create a new website, it's "unpublished" by default. You can only access it by signing in to your account and using the Contito app. It is not publicly accessible and some features such as content search and analytics will not work.
What is a published website?
Once you're ready to share your website with your users, you'll need to publish it to make it publicly available, known as "published". It can then be accessed for free via a subdomain of your choosing hosted at contito.org, or your own custom domain. Each published website requires a paid subscription plan.
Subscription Plan & Billing
How does the subscription plan work?
When you're ready to add a subdomain or domain name to your website, you'll be asked to upgrade your website to a paid plan. Once you enter your payment information and the transaction succeeds, you'll be able to publish your website. You'll be billed immediately for the first month, and then monthly thereafter.
Note: Even if you remove your subdomain or domain name, you'll still be billed monthly according to the plan the website is currently subscribed to. Only when you cancel the plan for your website will the billing stop.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes you can cancel your subscription plan anytime in the website's dashboard.
What happens when I cancel a subscription plan for a published website?
We will stop billing you after the current month expires. The website will then become "unpublished" and downgraded to the Free Plan. All subdomain and domain will stop working and your users will not be able to access your website. However, you can still access the website through your account in the Contito dashboard.
Is there a free trial?
Since you can create any number of unpublished projects upon signing up, we don't offer free trial for our subscription plan.
Features
Is there a visitor or page view limit?
Not at all! You can have as many page views to your site as you like.
Is there a storage limit?
No. We don't want you to worry about the size of your files.
We do, however, implement a fair use policy. As long as your files are used for your websites and are within a reasonable range, we don't impose any restriction. If we notice any abuse or if the files are stored and used for unintended purposes, we will contact you before taking any action. Failure to comply will result in the suspension of your website.
